what is a litany
1) Our Lady, the Virgin Mary (2) The Angels (3) Patriarchs and Prophets including St John the Baptist, and always concluding with Our Lady's spouse, Saint Joseph) (4) The Apostles and Disciples of the Lord (5) Martyrs (6) Bishops and Doctors of the Church (7) Priests and Religious (8) Laity

female: 8 + "virgins and widows" who are canonized (?) (Mary is mentioned 3x, as Mary, Mother of God, and Virgin of Virgins. I am inclined to believe that this is NOT the same as the trinity) + maybe a pick up prophet or two
male: 45 + "monks and hermits" who are canonized, and two of the members of the trinity (I am not counting the separate invocation of the trinity "members") + patriarchs and maybe most of the prophets > the gospel writers and apostles really up this count
?: 1 + Angels and Archangels, blessed spirits <
