MASQUE OF THE RED
DEATH. It opens this Friday (March 30th) at 8:30 and it runs every
Friday and Saturday through April 28th, at 8:30.

This is Edgar Allan Poe done ZJU style. Like its ancestor, last
year's production of TELL-TALE HEART (Los Angeles Times Critic's
Choice), we use every word of Poe's story, brought to life by an
ensemble of eight actors and violinist Robert Matsuda. In addition
to the songs and music I wrote for the show, you'll also hear English
folk songs and a Bach violin sonata. "That's all well and good," you
might say, "but why not include a short scene from Victor Hugo's
notorious play, Hernani, in French?" You want it, you got it.

Oh, and, yes, there will be blood and gruesome deaths.

The staging is "in the round," but what this really means is that,
although there will be some seating available, the show has been
designed for you to move around in. It's NOT interactive -- the
actors may whiz by you, but they won't try to drag you into the show.
It does take place all over the theatre, though, so don't be afraid
to walk around.

The whole thing lasts about an hour and costs $12. There's plenty of
free parking.

This staging requires that tickets for each performance are very
limited, so reserve early! Or call me or email me, and I'll make the
reservations for you.
