The Freedom to Write Committee of PEN USA is sponsoring this panel discussion with Nigerian Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka. Additional panelists: Russell Banks, novelist; Douglas Unger, International Institute of Modern Letters; and Sarah Russell, Cities of Asylum. Moderator is PEN International board member and former PEN USA president Eric Lax.

Emerging Voices/PEN in the Classroom Reading

PEN will host a reading featuring participants in its Emerging Voices and PEN in the Classroom programs. High school students Michelle Dougherty, Diana Cuevas and Mikhail "Logan" Pivovarov will represent more than 600 of their peers who benefit from PEN in the Classroom residencies every year. The students will share the stage with the 2004 Rosenthal Emerging Voices Fellows: Natali Petricic Escobedo, Candice L. Harper, Taylur Thu Hien Ngo, Mae Respicio, Melissa Roxas and Eduardo Santiago. The event will be hosted by former Emerging Voices Fellow and PITC teacher, Kisha Xiomara Palmer.
